Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity across the state, assuring citizens that his government will deploy every lawful means to protect lives and property.
The governor gave the assurance on Sunday at the 2026 Plateau Annual Convention of the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, North East Zone, held at the Assemblies of God Nigeria, Jos District Headquarters, Gyel, along the Bukuru Expressway, Jos South Local Government Area.
Mutfwang Vows Not To Abandon Security Responsibility
Governor Mutfwang, who appreciated the church for its prayers and support for peace and development in Plateau, acknowledged that the state has passed through difficult moments, especially in the area of security. He noted that despite the challenges, his administration in collaboration with security agencies has continued to strengthen measures aimed at confronting perpetrators of violence and restoring lasting peace across communities.
“I cannot abandon my responsibility of securing the people of Plateau State. We will protect our people with all that we have, within the ambit of the law.”
The governor also commended the Assemblies of God Nigeria for its contributions to spiritual and moral development, noting that the church was born out of revival and can only flourish through sustained spiritual renewal.
Call For Unity And Stronger Security Measures
Mutfwang stressed that the fight against banditry, criminality and other security threats requires collective effort, intelligence gathering and active community participation. He assured that government will continue to work with security agencies, traditional institutions and stakeholders to ensure lasting peace returns to all parts of Plateau.
He further expressed confidence in the resilience of Plateau people and Nigeria as a whole, despite the difficult forces challenging the nation’s development, and called on citizens to remain united and prayerful.
Background Of Insecurity In Plateau State
Plateau State has witnessed recurring security challenges including attacks on rural communities, kidnapping and farmer-herder clashes, which have led to displacement of thousands. The Mutfwang administration has been pushing for a review of the security architecture and recently advocated for a regional, intelligence-driven strategy for North Central states at the security summit in Makurdi.
