The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to corps members and members of the public over a fake redeployment notice circulating on social media and WhatsApp.
The fraudulent message has caused panic among parents and corps members, with many seeking urgent redeployment due to security concerns across some states.
NYSC Disowns Viral Redeployment Message
The Scheme in a disclaimer issued on its verified X handle on Friday disowned the viral message claiming that a special redeployment window had been opened for corps members.
According to NYSC, the fake notice titled "URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT" claimed that redeployment applications were available due to issues of National Security, Health, and State of the Nation, and urged members with genuine grounds to apply quickly.
"FAKE NEWS! The information circulating about special redeployment window is not from NYSC. Members of the public should disregard it"
The Scheme stressed that it never authorized any individual or agent to process redeployment via phone calls, WhatsApp numbers, or unofficial platforms as stated in the fake notice.
How To Apply For Genuine Redeployment
NYSC explained that all legitimate deployment and redeployment matters are handled only through its official portal and designated NYSC offices nationwide.
The Scheme also warned corps members to be wary of fraudsters who promise preferential placements or special approvals in exchange for money, noting that such activities are illegal and punishable.
Public Advised To Verify Information
NYSC urged parents, guardians and prospective corps members to always verify any information concerning the Scheme through its official website www.nysc.gov.ng and verified social media platforms before taking action.
M2NICE Editorial Note: Fake NYSC redeployment notices surface almost every batch. Corps members should never pay anyone for relocation. Genuine redeployment is free and strictly based on marital, health or security grounds via official channels.
